Onion soup (6 servings)

6 servings

Put the diced onion and butter in a cast iron saucepan and fry until brown. Add to the fried onion, stirring, flour, and then meat broth, put the bay leaf and black pepper, put on a low heat and cook for 30 minutes. Remove the bay leaf and add the salt. Dry fresh bread, loaf or buns, chopped into thin slices, over a high heat without oil. Pour the soup into plates, put in each one a slice of toasted white bread, sprinkle the bread with grated cheese (3/4 cup), cover. You can first sprinkle each slice of bread with cheese and put it in the oven for a few minutes so that the cheese melts. Serve the remaining cheese separately with the soup to the table
