Old treat (bread soup)
1 serving
Don't let the leftover rye bread stale - dry the crunchy breadcrumbs in the oven. You can use them to make an old Russian treat - bread chowder. Breadcrumbs must be poured with boiling water and insisted until the mixture turns into a gelatinous mass. Then put the pan on a low heat. Add a little honey and any sweets that are at hand, apples, jam, a pinch of cinnamon and cloves. Heat the mixture without bringing to a boil, and the soup is ready.
