Frozen spinach

Frozen spinach...

True, the season of fresh spinach is quite short, so the hostesses are used to using frozen spinach when preparing dishes, which can be purchased in a store or prepared at home.

Undoubtedly, homemade frozen spinach is preferable - you will always be sure that spinach is present in this product, and not a mixture of dandelions and swans, for example. In addition, often this green contains too much nitrate, so it is recommended to give preference to frozen spinach, because it is frozen immediately after collection, and therefore these substances do not have time to transform into poisonous nitrites during storage.

For homemade frozen spinach, greens can be bought on the market or harvested from your own bed, which is, of course, much better. Spinach leaves for freezing should be torn off before the flowering period begins, that is, until flower arrows begin to appear on the plants.

Spinach is very thoroughly washed from fine sand and dust - each leaf is separate. It is clear that this process is quite laborious, but the result is worth it. Hard cuttings of the plant are cut off and discarded, and spinach leaves are cut into strips, put in a colander and poured with boiling water for a couple of minutes. After the water drains and the greens cool, it remains to be placed in storage utensils, pressed with your hands and put in the freezer.

You can make a lot of healthy and very tasty dishes from frozen spinach, for example, spinach soup, spinach with mushrooms, cannelloni with spinach and chicken. The calorie content of frozen spinach is approximately 34 kcal per 100 grams of greens.
