Grape leaves are a very unusual product for our region, which has found its application in cooking and folk medicine. Grape leaves are in particular demand in Greek, Vietnamese, Bulgarian, Arab, Turkish and Armenian cuisines. Armenian tolma, Moldavian dolma, Cypriot dolmades - different names for the same dish - cabbage rolls with meat and rice from grape leaves. And in general, grape leaves are perfectly combined with any meat products. With a low calorie content of grape leaves (93 kcal per 100 grams), the dishes in which they are used can be successfully applied in dietetics.

Due to the content of tannins, sugars and organic acids, the benefits of grape leaves are widely used in cosmetology, where they are used along with grape seed oil.

Eastern medicine claims the benefit of grape leaves in the treatment of bronchitis, as they have the ability to remove sputum from the bronchi. Infusion from grape leaves treats sore throat and hypertension. Pure leaves of grapes (like plantain) are applied to wounds to stop bleeding and their speedy healing, but in the form of mush they are used as compresses for varicose veins.

Whatever useful properties the leaves of grapes have, unfortunately, they also have contraindications for use. Damage to grape leaves can affect in the case of chronic diseases such as obesity, stomach ulcer and diabetes mellitus, if consumed in unlimited quantities.
