Chamomile pharmacy (medicinal) is widespread in our country. It is a herbaceous plant belonging to the family Asteraceae and is distinguished by a straight, branched, ribbed stem and pinnately dissected leaves. Of particular interest are chamomile flowers, represented by hemispherical baskets with marginal snow-white reed and middle yellow tubular flowers.

The taste of chamomile flowers is spicy and bitter, and when rubbed, they are able to emit a characteristic rich smell of overripe apples. By the way, the name of the plant comes from here (chamal is low on the ground, and melon is an apple). Nevertheless, the Russian name was borrowed from the Polish language and comes from the word in Latin romana, which means Roman.

Since ancient times, the miraculous properties of chamomile flowers have been known to herbalists and medicine doctors. The ancient Egyptian pharaohs also used chamomile essential oil, after which the custom of using this plant for medicinal purposes was instilled in the ancient Romans and Greeks.

Today, chamomile can be found almost everywhere - on the territory of our country, for example, it grows as a weed in open clearing, meadows, on the roads, but in the Krasnodar Territory this plant is deliberately cultivated on plantations.

It would seem that chamomile tea with cream and honey, which is an excellent natural sleeping pill, is perhaps the only culinary application of this plant. But in fact, chamomile flowers are quite widely used not only for brewing infusions, teas and decoctions, but also added when preparing culinary products. In addition, freshly picked chamomile flowers are an excellent decorative design of ready-made confectionery masterpieces - cakes, cakes, desserts.

In the composition of chamomile flowers, essential oils, flavonoids, bitterness, organic acids (nicotine, ascorbic, antemis, isovalerian, salicylic and caprylic), carotene, mucus, gum, sugar, protein substances, coumarins and glycosides were found.

Chamomile flower-based drugs are actively used to treat many diseases. For example, the infusion of this plant is recommended to be taken orally with flatulence, intestinal cramps, gastritis, inflammatory processes of the liver, bile and bladder, neuroses, menstrual disorders, and hysteria.

As you know, the benefits of chamomile flowers are also due to its antimicrobial effect: the infusion of the plant is advised to rinse the mouth and throat, rinse difficult-to-heal wounds. Bathtubs with the addition of chamomile flowers help perfectly with gout, rheumatism and increased sweating of the legs.

The benefits of chamomile flowers and the light content of essential oil, which is used in aromatherapy as a calming agent, are obvious. In cosmetology, chamomile is also widely used - especially it is popular in children's series, where, thanks to the alcoholic infusion of flowers, I improve industrial creams and tonic.
