Condensed milk

Condensed milk...

Condensed milk refers to sweet foods and consists of concentrated cow's milk and sugar. Most often, condensed milk is found on store shelves in cans weighing 400 grams, although recently it can be found in other containers, for example, plastic and glass cans, as well as tubes.

Condensed milk is a very nutritious product that has a white or slightly creamy color and a high protein content of 34%. Unsurprisingly, the calorie content of condensed milk is quite high and amounts to 320 kcal.

Excellent gastronomic qualities and useful properties of condensed milk helped this product rise to the highest places among the favorite treats of Russian sweet tooth. In addition to being used in cooking to make a variety of confectionery, condensed milk is also added to hot drinks such as tea or coffee.

It is quite interesting that the history of condensed milk takes us to 1856, when the American Gail Borden patented this product, after having evaporated whole milk for some time, adding ordinary sugar to it. Much later, condensed milk began to be produced on the territory of the CIS countries in tins with a white and blue label (this became a kind of brand, and the product itself became easily recognizable in Russia).

Boiled condensed milk is considered a special treat, which is usually packed in ready-made form into cans at the factory. But even at home it is not difficult to prepare it - although there are a lot of time costs, the final product will definitely not differ from the factory one. However, be very careful: during the heat treatment process, the digested jars burst quite often. In this regard, during all 4 hours, they must be constantly monitored.

Benefits of condensed milk

In fact, the real condensed milk is the same cow's milk, but only with extended shelf life. Therefore, the benefits of condensed milk are akin to the beneficial properties of a product obtained from cows, but in smaller quantities. The quality product is fully absorbed and thereby enriches our body with useful substances.

Due to the presence of calcium, the benefits of condensed milk are expressed in strengthening bone tissue and teeth, as well as improving vision. It has been proven that the condensed milk contains a large amount of balanced phosphorus salts responsible for blood recovery and brain activity.

Harm of condensed milk

However, one should not forget that when using condensed milk, a measure is needed. Nutritionists advise limiting yourself to 2-3 spoons of this sweet product, otherwise the harm of condensed milk may manifest itself in the development of obesity, tooth decay and diabetes.
