As a result of a number of sociological studies, scientists have found that tea is considered the second most popular soft drink after water on planet Earth. China is considered the birthplace of the tea drink, where for thousands of years people have grown tea bushes and used leaves to make the now world-famous drink.

In the Beijing dialect, the drink is called nothing more than 茶 or "cha, " hence the Russian-language name tea. The drink is made from the leaves of a tea bush or camellia plant Chinese Caméllia sinénsis. This plant belongs to the genus Camellius, as well as the Tea family. Scientists believe that the homeland of the plant is high-altitude forests located in the tropical, and in addition subtropical climate of the countries of Southeast Asia.

Often this geographical region is called Indochina. It is worth noting that until the beginning of the 19th century, tea bushes and a drink were the exclusive property of the Middle Kingdom. The history has preserved references to a set of Chinese tea laws, which involved severe punishment and even the death penalty for disclosing ways to make and produce tea to foreigners. Until now, China has been treated with great respect for the ancient traditions associated with the tea ceremony.

Nowadays, tea is cultivated not only in China, but also in other regions suitable for growing plants. At its biological essence, the tea bush is a shrub that does not exceed 10 meters in height. The tea bush blooms in white, fragrant inflorescences. The fruits of the plant are box-shaped inside which are tea seeds.

All components of the plant differ in their unique chemical composition. In the food, cosmetics, pharmaceutical and perfume industries, both leaves and stems and tea seeds are used. We think many know about the unique beneficial properties of the plant, which are primarily due to the vitamin-mineral composition of leaves, as well as stems and seeds of tea. Tea leaves are enriched with a significant amount of definitely useful compounds for the human body.

The stems of tea bushes, as well as the root system of the plant, contain steroids that are actively used in pharmacology. The chemical composition of tea seeds contains up to 25% fatty vegetable oil, as well as sterols and proteins. As a rule, tea seeds are used in the process of producing vegetable oil.

Refined, i. e. additionally purified, fatty vegetable oil made from tea seeds is used in cooking. Non-refined or non-refined tea seed oil is used for technical needs in machine building, as well as in chemical industry.
