Powdered sugar

Powdered sugar...

It is not difficult to guess from the name of the product that powdered sugar is ordinary granulated sugar, which is ground to a dusty state. From a scientific point of view, the technological process of producing powdered sugar consists in the mechanical grinding of sugar crystals, which occurs in large impact-reflecting mills.

The use of powdered sugar is limited mainly to the confectionery field, where it is used to make many sweet products, such as glaze. Surely, that is why sugar powder is often called confectionery powder.

In addition, powdered sugar is used to beat cream that has increased fat content and eggs. For a variety of soft drinks and cocktails, confectionery decorations (often as sprinkles), this rather simple product is simply indispensable.

If, for example, powder is used instead of granulated sugar during the preparation of protein or cream, then the foam will turn out to be more tender, and it will rise much faster.

You can always find ready-made sugar powder on sale, but some housewives independently make it from sugar at home. To do this, it is enough to grind sugar sand using a grinder or with your hands in a mortar.

Not many people know that depending on the fineness of grinding, icing sugar is produced in 3 varieties. For use in home cooking, we buy the sweet product of the thinnest grinding, since this particular variety goes on retail sale. The other two are used exclusively in the confectionery industry.
