Palmarosa oil

Palmarosa oil...

The perennial palmarose is a wild herbaceous plant that acts as a representative of the Cereal family. It is quite high - about two meters. Palmarosa is distinguished by the presence of panicle inflorescences and lanceolate leaves, which are unusually fragrant. Palmarosa grows in the arid regions of India and Pakistan, but at the same time it is quite widely cultivated on the islands of Sumatra, Java, as well as in other regions of South Asia.

To date, two forms of palmarosa stand out: sofia and motia. This aromatic plant is a raw material for the production of valuable palmarosa essential oil, which is commonly extracted from the stems, foliage and inflorescences of plants. The content of a substance called geraniol in palmarose oil of the first form does not exceed 30 percent, while in plants of the second species its content reaches 80 percent.

Previously, palmarosa oil was called Turkish or Indian geranium oil. By sea, he was brought from Bombay to the ports of the Red Sea, from where this essential oil was sent further to Bulgaria and Constantinople, where it was often used as a good replacement for natural rose oil.

In India, this plant, along with small palmarose, was usually added to curry dishes, residents of West Africa widely used it when processing meat - this contributed to the destruction of pathogenic bacteria and improved digestion.

The distinctive properties of palmarosa oil are considered to be its subtle floral aroma, reminiscent of the smell of rose and geranium at the same time. This light liquid is produced industrially by means of water-vapor distillation. Palmarosa essential oil is well combined with other aromas: for example, bergamot, orange, jasmine, lavender, ylang-ylang, balm, sandal, rose and citronella.

It has been proven that natural palmarosa oil, acting directly on the CNS, has a tonic effect in depression, nervous stress states and stress. In addition, this natural concentrate promotes faster recovery of the body after having suffered diseases, further eliminating chronic fatigue syndrome.

The antisclerotic and vasoconstrictive properties of palmarose oil are known along with its ability to normalize blood pressure and exert myotonic action, relieving eye tension. When using this healing oil, the work of the digestive tract is optimized, spasms, enzymatic deficiency, flatulence, dysbiosis and constipation are eliminated, and appetite increases and intestinal microflora is restored.

Palmarose oil has long attracted people's attention at the expense of its characteristic pleasant smell. It is added to tobacco for aromatization, and previously quite high concentrations of it were used in surgery as an anesthetic. Natural palmarosa oil is often used in perfume compositions, which contributes to the creation of a rose note.
