By mint essential oil, it is customary to mean a large group of essential oils that are obtained from the above-ground parts of plants belonging to the genus Mint. But, above all, peppermint and field oils are known around the world. Aromatic mint oil is produced from the ground part of the plant using a special method, which consists in distillation of raw materials with water vapor.

"Classics" in the essential mint oil family is considered peppermint oil, which is a natural interspecies hybrid between M. aquatica and M. viridis L. In England, this plant is commonly called "black mint, " and its oil has long been considered the highest quality.

The essential oil of field or Japanese mint is most widely used in the perfume and cosmetics industry, where it can often be found in toothpastes. It is distinguished by its high menthol content, which can number more than 80 percent.

In general, most essential oil is present in peppermint inflorescences, but it is also found in the leaves and stems of the plant. It should be said that the composition of mint oil, as well as other essential oils, can depend not only on the specific variety of the plant, but also on the weather conditions for collecting raw materials, its storage conditions, methods of isolation and storage duration of essential oil.

Many cooks use the aromatic properties of mint oil when preparing a number of dishes to which this excellent flavor additive gives the characteristic taste and aroma of this plant. Basically, minimal amounts of mint oil (no more than one drop) are added when preparing homemade baked goods, cakes, dessert dishes, sorbe, puddings, ice cream, jelly, souffle, casseroles and a number of other delicious and unusually fragrant sweet products.

In addition, the medicinal properties of mint oil for human health are also obvious, which are due to the ability of this natural concentrate to have a physical, emotional and mental effect on the body. So, in the composition of mint oil there are special molecules that act positively on the nervous system of a person, further adjusting his physical activity and emotional state.

It has been proven that the rich aroma of mint is capable of increasing trust, removing tension and stiffness, refreshing and truly invigorating. Mint essential oil has an equally effective effect for colds - it fights viruses and microbes, lowering body temperature.

In addition, another useful property of mint oil is its ability to quickly relieve almost any pain, both head and menstrual, muscle. For example, in toothache, mint oil temporarily drowns out pain and eliminates bad smells from the mouth.
