Clove essential oil is obtained from buds or fruits of a clove tree. In the case when the clove oil is produced from buds, they are first collected still unfastened, and then dried. The main component of clove essential oil (about 85 percent) is eugenol, a fragrant substance that is responsible for the pronounced aroma of this spice. True, this substance is contained in clove oil slightly less than in the buds of the plant. Caryophyllene, acetylevgenol and a mixture of bicyclic sesquiterpenes are also present in the clove essential oil.

The main properties of clove oil are its fluid and light consistency, tart, warm and oily aroma, which is characterized by a spicy upper tone, medium-soft and oily - lower tone. Referring to aphrodisiacs, the aroma of clove oil is considered tonic.

Due to its peculiar, strong spicy aroma, clove oil is a very popular spice. It can be used in the preparation of punches and other hot alcoholic beverages, bitter liqueurs, fruit juices and compotes. In addition, the aroma of clove essential oil is highly valued in canning, especially mushrooms, fruits and vegetables.

It has been proven that clove essential oil can actively influence the neuropsychiatric processes that occur in the human body. Its spicy aroma contributes to a faster recovery of strength after nervous or physical exertion. And clove oil is characterized by a warming effect and the ability to stop nervous tremors.
