Kopor tea can be classified as a group of herbal beverages that have some distinctive characteristics of a tea drink. Researchers believe that the useful properties of Koporsky tea have been known in Russia since about the XII century.

Koporsky tea got its original name thanks to the town of Koporye, which is now a village in the Leningrad region. it was in the garden that Ivan-tea was harvested on an industrial scale, narrow-leaved, in order to subsequently produce a medicinal drink from the leaves of the plant. It is noteworthy that Kopor tea was quite known abroad, where the drink was called nothing more than "Russian tea. "

Many European powers purchased Kopor tea in tons. This popularity of the drink was due primarily to the unique beneficial properties, and in addition, the vitamin-mineral composition. Until the beginning of the 20th century, it was Kopor tea that was considered one of the most widespread drinks in the Russian Empire.
