Roybos tea (roybush)

Roybos or roybush tea is not produced from tea tree leaves, so this drink is sometimes referred to as a subspecies of herbal teas. Africa is considered the birthplace of the drink, where a shrub from the Bean family grows, which is called Aspalathus linearis or roybos. The African word rooibos literally translates as "red bush" and does not accidentally serve as a name for one of the most famous varieties of red tea.
The surprising thing is that the drink from the leaves and branches of the bean shrub is classified as tea drinks. Although the second equally famous red karkade tea is made from hibiscus petals, a plant that belongs to the Malvov family. The roybos plant has long been used in Africa to make a healing tea drink. Roybos (roybush) tea for Africans is as accepted a drink as tea or coffee for our latitudes.
Roybos tea is better suited to the hot climate of African territories. Over time, the drink of African tribes took root in the tradition of the first Dutch settlers, and from the end of the 19th century, roybos tea became a favorite drink of the British, who settled in Cape Town. Roybos (roybush) was so to the taste of discerning English colonists that they decided to bring tea to their homeland. It was from England that the victorious procession of traditional African tea roybos (roybush) began throughout the continent. For its beneficial properties, roybos tea is called the bushman elixir.
African tribes really believe that roybos tea (roybush) is able not only to cheer up, give strength and strengthen immunity. The inhabitants of Africa have long attributed to the tea drink the ability to rejuvenate the body and prolong life. The chemical composition of roybos tea (roybush) is really enriched with a sufficient amount of magnesium, potassium, calcium, sodium, zinc, as well as iron, magnesium and fluorine. Japanese researchers conducted a number of tests and scientific experiments as a result of which it was found that roybos tea is an excellent natural antioxidant, and also has a positive and generally strengthening effect on the health and well-being of the human body.
However, the main feature and benefits of roybos (roybush) for the body can be considered the complete absence of caffeine in the composition of a tea drink. For this reason, roybos tea can be consumed by all categories of people, even those who, for a number of reasons, are contraindicated by such drinks as tea or coffee. In addition, roybos tea is naturally sweet, because the drink contains a large amount of natural glucose.
Roybos tea (roybush) will be an excellent vitamin and safe drink for young children. Roybos, like other tea, is brewed using boiling water in a kettle and the drink is allowed to stand for about 5-7 minutes. Sometimes it is recommended to cook roybos (roybush) tea for some time so that the drink acquires a richer taste and aroma. Unlike drinks from tea leaves, roybos (roybush) absolutely does not deteriorate from boiling, but, on the contrary, improves its qualities.
