If you take dried and crushed young shoots and leaves of the Paraguayan holly and make a tonic drink from them, as a result you will get a famous mate tea, which has been popular with us in the country for several years.

Interestingly, in my homeland - in Paraguay - mate tea is not customary to drink from the cups that are familiar to us. For these purposes, special narrowed vessels are used here, which are made from mati pumpkin. They are called vibrations, and according to the custom, you need to drink mate tea from these vessels through a straight or slightly curved metal tube - bombing.

Do not be upset if you do not have the necessary attributes, but you really want to get acquainted with this exotic tea. Today, there are enough modern, adapted for Europeans, methods of making mate tea. For example, some prepare this drink like coffee by brewing and then pouring the finished hot tea through a strainer.

You can enjoy tea mate and in cold form, having previously brewed it in the usual way, adding sugar or natural honey to it, and then cooling to room temperature. Before serving, you can put a few ice cubes, some fresh mint, pink petals or vanilla on the bottom of the glass. After that, several tablespoons of your favorite fruit juice and directly mate tea are poured there, which is again strained through a strainer.

Benefits of mate tea

Thanks to the huge number of biologically active compounds, the benefits of mate tea for humans are simply obvious. In particular, regular consumption of this drink provides the heart with sufficient oxygen, normalizes blood pressure, as well as cerebral blood supply.

Pantothenic acid present in this tea has the ability to repair cells and maintain normal levels of adrenaline in the blood. In turn, choline takes an active part in normalizing cholesterol levels, and a considerable amount of chlorophyll in mate tea has a positive effect on the activities of the immune system.

In addition, the benefits of mate tea are manifested in immunostimulatory and tonic actions. It not only increases the body's stamina, helping to cope with stresses, but also raises the mood. Interestingly, this Paraguayan drink has a unique property - to reduce cravings for smoking and addiction to alcoholic beverages.

In addition to the presence of such a large number of beneficial properties of mate tea, it will be interesting to know that this drink, like white tea, for example, has absolutely no contraindications to use. In this regard, you can enjoy the Paraguayan traditional drink in any quantities without fear of the likely harm of tea mate.
