Bouillon cube

Bouillon cube...

How appetizing bouillon cubes look in advertising! A bright picture appears in front of us: fresh vegetables, a golden cube and fragrant steam over a plate of mouth-watering soup. I just want to taste it without thinking about what actually opens up behind the colorful packaging of a small cube.

The broth cube is usually called sprayed concentrated and dehydrated vegetable or meat broth. Formed into small cubes (about 15 mm), in its composition this seasoning, in addition to broth, contains solid fat and additives, usually salt and sodium glutamate. In cubes, which can most often be found on supermarket shelves, the content of sodium glutamate is about one and a half grams, which is 65% with an acceptable daily consumption dose for a person of average weight (60 kg). The calorie content of the bouillon cube is 40 kcal per 100 grams of seasoning.

The main types of stock cubes that can be purchased without any problem in any store: beef, fish, chicken, mushroom, lamb, duck, shrimp and tomato.

The benefits of a bouillon cube

Of course, the benefits of a bouillon cube are evidenced by the fact that the cooking process becomes much easier and faster. Just one cube added at the end of cooking to your favourite soup or hot dish will enrich it with a golden colour and unrivalled flavour. But one should not forget that it is difficult for the body to get something useful from such a meal, besides calories. Therefore, before using this, albeit aromatic, but not particularly useful supplement in food, it is worth thinking carefully.

Currently, the topic of the use of the bouillon cube is very relevant, due to its not very useful composition. The cube owes its aromatic properties to the additive sodium glutamate, which has the ability to increase the taste of the product.

Harm of the bouillon cube

With daily consumption of food, in which one of the ingredients is a bouillon cube, gastritis, and sometimes even an ulcer, can be easily earned. Doctors unanimously argue that such a "cocktail" of dietary supplements is simply contraindicated in people with kidney and liver diseases, as well as the pancreas. Gastroenterologists advise not to abuse such dinners, so that they do not face the consequences and harm of a bouillon cube, but, if possible, take a thermos with a home dinner with them.

And also broth cubes, more precisely, sodium glutamate in their composition, often cause the body to become addictive, which is characteristic of narcotic substances. So before you throw a golden cube in a pan of food, think a thousand times about the possible consequences.
