Although sage in our latitudes is better known as a plant with medicinal properties, in many countries it is also a common seasoning and spice. The use of the properties of dried sage in cooking is no less widespread than in the field of pharmacology.

Culinary experts are happy to use sage in the form of a dry powder. Immediately before drying, the leaves are well washed in water from insects and dust, since the latter are tenaciously kept on the plant (due to "haze").

The powder of this spice can be used in part as a substitute for rosemary in the preparation of soups, meat dishes, salads, which include eggs and chilled meat. As an absolutely independent spice, dried sage is added to egg-rice, cabbage and meat pies, where it plays an important role, giving the finished dish a special taste and aroma. Just before serving, dried sage is sprinkled with chicken broths, boiled oily fish and braised beef. It is placed in a variety of mince for cutlets, rolls and meatballs.
