Smoked cod
Cod is called a wonderful fish that is good in human form: fried, boiled, stewed or steamed. In addition, the gastronomic qualities of smoked cod are highly appreciated, which can be consumed as an independent dish or used as a basis for preparing a variety of delicious snacks, for example, adding boiled eggs and fresh greens to it. The calorie content of smoked cod is 115 kcal per 100 grams of finished fish product.
Fortunately, the modern industry provides a wide range of fish and seafood, including smoked cod. When choosing cod smoked in a shop for a weight, always carefully inspect the fish from all sides if you want to purchase a high quality product. If the cod smoked on one side is much lighter, then it may well be damp. This is due to the fact that most likely the manufacturer laid too many fish in the smoke chamber, as a result of which, touching each other, the cod did not dig properly.
In addition, the composition of smoked cod should always be present on the label. Ideally, in addition to fish and food salt, the product does not contain other additives. All kinds of preservatives, dyes, stabilizers and flavors, diligently disguised by unscrupulous manufacturers under the names without the E index, will not benefit your health, and sometimes they can provoke unpleasant consequences from eating smoked cod.
The quality of smoked cod can also be determined by smell. Natural smoked cod, which is made without the use of liquid smoke and flavors, is distinguished by a pleasant, unobtrusive haze aroma. If the fish hardly smells, then the product has been lying on the counter for too long or it has been procured too little. Smoked cod in vacuum packaging must be completely sealed, otherwise dangerous bacteria have already settled in fish and putrid processes have begun.
This is not to say that with a fairly low calorie content of smoked cod, this fish perfectly saturates the body. First of all, this is due to the presence of useful trace elements and other substances valuable for human health included in this product. So, smoked cod is rich in vitamins of groups B, E, PP and A, there are saturated fatty acids in it. The composition of smoked cod is also represented by a number of mineral salts: calcium, potassium, sodium, magnesium, iron, phosphorus, fluorine and other useful elements.
