Tiger shrimp differ from the rest of their warm-water counterparts in their huge size, rapid growth and high protein content. But in terms of calories, tiger shrimp do not stand out much from their "colleagues" - it is almost the same in all these crustaceans. By the way, these shrimp got their name thanks to black stripes throughout the body. But few people know that several species of these banded seabed dwellers are known. Classically, 3 varieties of tiger shrimp are distinguished: ordinary, black and green.

The former mainly live in the Atlantic Ocean and the Mediterranean, especially many of them on the Adriatic. Interestingly, the ponytail mass of these crustaceans is up to fifty percent of the total weight, with a significantly smaller head size than that of royal shrimp. A distinctive feature of these crustaceans can be called transverse stripes along the entire length of the shell. However, frozen seafood sold in stores does not have them, since when tiger shrimp die, their strips disappear.

Approximately 60% of the volume of black tiger shrimp is grown on special farms. Their distinguishing features are light stripes on the black shell. They are simply huge: some especially powerful individuals can weigh about a kilogram. But mostly these are artificially grown tiger shrimp.

Tiger shrimp, which are found in the Indian and Pacific Ocean, are a species of green. They have a light brown color and many greenish intersperses, in addition to the traditional dark transverse stripes.

Seafood lovers simply adore tiger prawns and cook them in a variety of ways. These crustaceans can act as both a stand-alone dish and as an essential ingredient in salads, soups, snacks and hot dishes. Due to the low calorie content of tiger shrimp, these gifts of the sea often end up on the table of adherents of a healthy diet.

When choosing frozen shrimp, so as not to get on a low-quality product, give preference to those in the original packaging, and not offered for weight. Remember that the shell of tiger shrimp must definitely shine. Signs of a spoiled product can be safely called a black head, yellowish meat and hillocks.

Cooking is considered the classic way to make tiger shrimp, but they can also be roasted or grilled. Serving tiger prawns is recommended with special sauces that are great for seafood. For example, it could be lemon juice with olive oil, spices and garlic.

In the seafood market, tiger shrimp is highly valued for their dietary qualities, since the meat of these crustaceans is practically free of fat, but it is rich in proteins and proteins.
