Translated from ancient Greek, the name of octopuses ὀϰτώ πούς translates as "eight legs. " In fact, the body of octopuses is oval, and the head of the mollusk is equipped with tentacles or "hands" on which the suction cups are located. Octopuses are unique in that they have as many as three hearts, of which only one main is responsible for the circulation of the mollusk.

Octopuses are the most highly developed of all molluscs, the researchers note. In addition, octopuses can quickly change their body shape, thereby adapting to the environment. Size, however, as well as the color of octopuses depends primarily on the species of mollusk.

In nature, there are both small octopuses of only one centimeter in size, and real hulks whose length reaches four meters. Octopuses live primarily in the waters of the sea and oceans of the tropical or subtropical climate belt. Notably, humans have consumed octopus for thousands of years.
