Steak acquired its original name thanks to the English word steak, which literally means "piece. " Initially, steaks were called pieces of meat, usually beef, which were cut in a special way along and sometimes across the fibers. A little later, pieces of fish fillet began to be called steak. The history of steak began in the Roman Empire, when priests of some cults sacrificed large and pre-cooked pieces of meat to their powerful gods.

It is worth noting that meat and steaks made of steel are of high quality products only a few centuries ago. It turns out that in the Middle Ages meat steaks were not in particular demand, and they did not yet know about fish steaks. Currently, for the manufacture of both meat and steaks from fish, first-class and high-quality animal carcasses are used, as well as, so-called noble fish breeds. In our rapid age, not only high technologies are developing, but also all areas of human life.

Cooking has always kept pace with the times, so nowadays you can easily find fish steaks on the shelves of domestic grocery stores. Most often, for fish steaks, food manufacturers choose fatty meat from fish species such as salmon, swordfish, buttery, halibut, tuna, mahi-mahi fish, as well as congrio and marlin.

Shark steak is considered a special delicacy and treat for real foodies. It is worth noting that the popularity of fish steaks is due to several main factors. Firstly, fish steaks do not require significant time during the cooking process. Secondly, fish steaks are distinguished by excellent taste characteristics, and besides, vitamin and mineral composition.

Thirdly, at all times, dishes from noble fish breeds were considered an exquisite treat that only selected segments of the population could afford. Nowadays, different segments of the population have the opportunity to feel like aristocrats and taste first-class fish steak. Generally, fish steaks are sold chilled or frozen.

In order to bring the fish steak to readiness, you need to subject the frozen semi-finished product to thermal cooking. Of course, it is best to cook a fish steak over an open fire, i. e. using a grill. However, fish steak will have excellent taste and, if prepared correctly, with the help of a regular household stove, as well as an oven.

It is worth emphasizing especially that, like the vast majority of fish species, fish steaks also boast fairly low calorie levels. The average calorie content of fish steak is at 155 Kcal, which is per 100 grams of product. Such indicators give reason to classify fish steaks as dietary foods.
