Saber fish
The saber fish ("Trichiurus lepturus"), also known by the names common hairy-tailed or saber-fish, is a member of the hairy-tailed family (Trichiuridae). This fish is a valuable object of fishing today.
The body length of the saber fish reaches two meters with a weight of at least one kilogram. The silver body of this fish is elongated, almost naked, resembles a saber - in fact, hence such an interesting name. The tail of the saber fish is equipped with a filamentous appendage, with the dorsal fin extending from the head to the caudal stem itself. It is noteworthy that the lifespan of a saber fish can be up to fifteen years.
In Chinese, saber fish are often called white fish, white belt, or knife fish. It feeds mainly on small fish, crustaceans and mollusks, and therefore its meat is rich in healthy protein, calcium, phosphorus, potassium, magnesium and some vitamins.
In winter, this migratory fish is nailed in large quantities to the shores of Taiwan, while the rest of the time it lives in the subtropical and tropical seas of all oceans. By the way, in Russia, saber fish often enter the waters of southern Primorye.
Saber fish is highly valued for its delicious, tender and very juicy meat. The main advantage of this fish is that it has extremely few bones (almost only a ridge), and these bones can be easily separated during consumption. Saber fish has a high nutritional value, and it is also quite easy to cook it, so it can often be found on the Chinese table.
Saber fish enter Russian shelves both caught in the Sea of Japan and the Atlantic Ocean by domestic ships, and imported from abroad, mainly from Japan and Korea. Saber fish in ice cream form is most often found, but abroad it is also popular in cured and salted form.
Many methods of cooking saber fish are known, but, as a rule, they are fried in a pan, stewed or boiled. The saber fish is cut into portions, rubbed with salt and left to marinate briefly. After that, a little vegetable oil is poured into the pan and the fish is fried until golden. If desired, you can make a liquid batter, into which the saber fillet of the fish is lowered, and then deep-fried.
Interestingly, the scales of the saber fish and its fat contain a special anti-cancer component that is able to assist in the treatment of stomach cancer, leukemia and lymphatic tumors. In addition, regular consumption of this fish as food improves the work of internal organs, so keep all the useful elements in it, clean the fish with caution.
