In view of the fact that macrurus fish have rather sharp scales, which can be easily injured, it is sold mainly as a carcass with removed scales or frozen fillet. " This is due to its long, gradually thinning tail, the tip of which is stretched like a thread. The coloration of this fish can vary from grayish brown to charcoal black.
