Canned beetroot

Canned beetroot...

In the summer heat, you especially want to quench your thirst, but at the same time eat deliciously, and also enrich your body with useful substances. All this is possible thanks to cold borscht or beetroot. Even long ago, the Slavs prepared such first dishes from vegetables, which were seasoned with fermented milk products and crushed fresh herbs.

However, the formulation of most of the first cold meals, in addition to vegetables, kefir, sour cream, whey or prostokvashi, also provides for the addition of eggs or kvass. At the same time, the main and most common components of beetroot were and remain beets - a herbaceous plant that, according to scientific classification, belongs to the Amarantovy family.

Today, a fairly large number of a wide variety of beet varieties are cultivated, with many of them used for food, and some are used as animal feed. Thus, among the most common varieties of this plant, consumed by humans, the following stand out: sugar beets and ordinary beets. It is the latter that is considered the most popular beet variety that has been used for food since ancient times.

Due to its distinctive taste and consumer characteristics, ordinary beets occupy a worthy place in the culinary tradition of the whole world. In addition, the chemical composition of beets, in which various vitamins and biologically active compounds of natural origin are present, deserves special attention. It is this variety of plant that is used to make canned beets - an excellent way to preserve not only the product itself, but also its useful properties.

First of all, canned beets are necessary as an integral part of a variety of salads, for example, vinaigrette and, undoubtedly, first courses. Moreover, canned beetroot is added as the main ingredient, not only in cold first dishes, but also hot vegetable soups.

Canned beets today can be purchased without any problems in all domestic grocery stores. Moreover, this product is provided in a wide range: canned beets in the form of puree, cubes, slices, thick slices and even whole. This is very convenient, especially when the recipe provides for the addition of, for example, tinned grated beets - open a jar and use it in preparation.

However, many hostesses believe that the store version of canned beets, neither in consumer quality nor in taste, can be compared with home procurement. Therefore, very often culinary experts are engaged in the manufacture of canned beets at home, resorting to proven for years methods of its preparation, which is actually quite simple.
