Turnip is one of the oldest cultivated crops, grown for more than 4, 000 years. It appeared in Greece, from where it spread throughout the globe. In Russia, this crop is grown almost from the advent of agriculture. With the advent of potatoes, interest in turnips faded somewhat, and gradually this vegetable, unfortunately, became more and more undeservedly forgotten. However, in some regions of the middle strip of our country, turnips are still grown in large quantities, because this is one of the most precocious and fruitful vegetable crops.

Turnip has found widespread use in cooking. As a rule, turnip roots are eaten. They can be eaten fresh, boiled, baked, casseroles are prepared from turnips, added to soups, stews and salads. In some countries, turnip leaf dishes are widespread, which are distinguished by their unusual taste, and, of course, show the benefit of turnips.
