The preservation of pepper is a responsible moment for lovers of pickled bell peppers, canned salt peppers, sauerkraut peppers and other preparations of this kind. Sweet canned pepper is considered an excellent independent snack, as well as an ingredient in various salads. It is thanks to the excellent taste and attractive appearance of the pepper that sweet canned are always popular.

The homeland of sweet pepper is called the tropical region of Central America, where this perennial plant is found even in the wild. However, northern latitudes are characterized by the cultivation of sweet pepper as an annual. By the way, no one has yet been able to find out why pepper is called "Bulgarian" in our country - Bulgaria has as much in common with this vegetable as with the rest of the world. Nevertheless, the fact remains, and today for Russians it is one of the most beloved and popular vegetable crops.

There are a large number of methods for preparing sweet canned pepper, but among them the pickled version is the most popular. Preservation of sweet Bulgarian pepper can be carried out in various ways, which involve the use of both fresh fruits and heat-treated fruits.

The most common is the following: mature vegetables are thoroughly washed, cut along into strips, seeds and stalks are removed. After that, sweet peppers are placed in cans, fragrant seasonings are added to them, and all this is poured with boiling water or marinade and rolled up. The result is either a sweet canned pepper or a pickled version of this product.

In addition, another method of preparing sweet canned pepper involves pre-stewing or baking the fruits, which gives the ready-made meal a greater aroma and a pronounced taste. In winter, such canned sweet pepper can be used as a side dish for meat and poultry dishes, as well as a separate snack.

It is worth noting that when harvesting sweet canned pepper at home, hostesses often use all kinds of spicy herbs and aromatic vegetables with herbs. Black peppercorns, oregano, tarragon, bay leaf, thyme are combined best with sweet pepper. In addition, the composition of sweet canned pepper may include bulb onions, celery, garlic, parsley and dill.

A very original snack can be called sweet canned pepper Traffic Light - it is called so because the fruits of three colors (red, yellow and green) are used during preparation. In addition, as an option, you can have sweet canned pepper stuffed for the winter by rolling it into jars or freezing it.
