Pepper jalapeño (Spanish. Jalapeño) are referred to as a subspecies of hot chilli. It is named after the city of Jalapa (Mexico) in the state of Veracruz, which is considered the main producer and harvester of this type of pepper. Jalapeño pepper differs from its counterparts in miniature size - with an average weight of 50 grams, its length hardly exceeds nine centimeters. But the smallest peppers less than five centimeters long are considered the most valuable.
As a rule, jalapeño peppers ripen in eighty days from the end of the flowering of the plant. They collect it still green, after which they are harvested in various ways - in particular, the most popular jalapeno marinated pepper. By the way, when ripening, jalapeño pods begin to acquire a red color. On an industrial scale, jalapeño peppers are cultivated in Mexico for these purposes.
Green jalapeño marinated pepper in Mexico is used in the preparation of national sauces. Moreover, red jalapeño pepper is considered not so excellent in taste, but nevertheless, this product retains its taste and consumer qualities for a longer time. In this regard, it is customary to dry and grind red jalapeño peppers into seasoning.
