Chinese cucumber

Chinese cucumber...

Mother Nature never ceases to amaze us with its bizarre gifts. Take, for example, such wonderful juicy vegetables as cucumbers. For us, the most familiar are small fruits, a neat cylindrical shape, gradually narrowing to the ends - centimeters 10 in length. Meanwhile, there are other types of these vegetables, for example, Chinese cucumber.

By the way, Chinese cucumber is not the name of a certain variety, but the real origin of this vegetable - it comes from China. Chinese cucumber is considered a separate type of cucumber, which is unlike other varieties - depending on each variety, their fruits can reach a length of forty centimeters, and sometimes more than one and a half meters.

Outwardly, the Chinese cucumber is dark green in color, it is strongly pubescent, with a delicate skin. The Chinese cucumber has an excellent taste and delicate aroma, sweet and dense flesh, while in the center the narrow chamber is occupied by rather small seeds compared to the usual cucumber. On the cut, the Chinese cucumber is like a wax, there are no voids in it.

It is worth noting that no matter how good domestic vegetables are, but in some ways they are still inferior to their overseas relatives. In particular, when Chinese cucumber is cut into lettuce, there is a wonderful fresh aroma around, very much reminiscent of the smell of watermelon.

In addition, a distinctive feature of the Chinese cucumber is its rate of fruit - less than a month passes from the moment the seeds are sown until the first fruits are harvested. This vegetable has excellent tying, as it is a self-pollinating variety. As you know, the plant is dominated by female flowers, which are located in bunches, so the fruits are formed in the same way. Subject to high agrophon, the yield of Chinese cucumber is also very high - up to 30 kilograms per bush.

It is impossible not to pay attention to the fact that another feature of the Chinese cucumber is that vegetables grow incredibly quickly, adding up to eight centimeters per day. At the same time, Chinese cucumber continues to bear fruit (under good conditions) up to the first frosts. When the fruits of Chinese cucumber reach a length of 30 centimeters, they are consumed as ordinary cucumbers, and ripe vegetables up to two meters long are usually used in the preparation of various dishes - salads, snacks, sandwiches. Chinese cucumbers are good and canned.
