Pickled cherry tomatoes

Pickled cherry tomatoes...

Cherry tomatoes are unusually good both fresh and canned. Mostly canned cherry tomatoes are represented by a wide variety of preparations: salted or pickled cherry tomatoes, whole in tomato juice or in a water pour (the so-called tomatoes own juice). In addition, canned cherry tomatoes often mean tomato sauce, juice, as well as a kind of jam made from these small fruits. As you know, these appetising attractive tomatoes are also included in all kinds of assorted vegetable salads, lechos.

However, for most consumers, the favorite type of canned cherries is the one made in marinade. The finished product is always distinguished by a pleasant acid and a slightly noticeable sweet taste. Pickled cherry tomatoes, unusually appetising and aesthetic, are wonderfully suitable for serving as a savoury snack or served as an independent meal.

A fairly original starter is pickled cherry tomatoes if the fruits are stuffed. It is customary to make minced meat for this dish from all kinds of vegetable crops and fresh aromatic greens: onions (feather and bulb), garlic, carrots, parsley, celery or dill. Stuffed cherry tomatoes are poured with brine (marinade) or tomato juice and then sterilized.

However, in order for pickled cherry tomatoes to be always successful, you need to know some subtleties when harvesting them. For example, the right choice of raw materials, that is, cherry tomatoes themselves, plays an important role. You can both marinate and salt cherry tomatoes of completely different degrees of maturity, however, it is advised to preserve them separately from each other, that is, not to mix greenish and red fruits in one jar.

When selecting cherry tomatoes for pickling, always make sure that vegetables do not have damage or stains, otherwise the blanks with such fruits will surely be poorly stored. When making pickled cherry tomatoes whole, which is most often observed, it is recommended to pierce their tops with a toothpick so that the fruits do not crack during heat treatment.

Meanwhile, whatever method of making pickled cherry tomatoes you prefer or consider the best, remember that fruits harvested whole retain more useful substances - vitamins, mineral salts, as well as other natural compounds valuable for health. The calorie content of pickled cherry tomatoes, along with other indicators of nutritional value, varies depending on the additives used, but in general it can hardly be called quite high.
