Dried cranberries
Cranberries are rightfully considered an extremely healthy, vitamin and mineral rich berry, which contains a huge amount of antioxidants. These substances are known to interfere with aging processes. In addition, it is no secret that cranberries have bactericidal and anti-inflammatory properties that contribute not only to the prevention, but also to the treatment of many diseases.
That is why people who care about their health try to diversify their diet with this magical berry, adding it to their favorite dishes. In addition to fresh cranberries and numerous meals based on it, dried cranberries are very popular. By the way, the numerous beneficial properties of dried cranberries are in no way inferior to the valuable qualities of fresh berries.
Dried cranberries, which have a sweet taste and a rich aroma, are made from large juicy fresh berries in industrial conditions. During the production process, juice is squeezed from them, to which sugar syrup is added - this concentrate is reintroduced into cranberries, which is subsequently dried. At the same time, a significant part of the nutrients is preserved in the finished berry along with a certain percentage of moisture, which makes dried cranberries quite juicy and its taste more saturated.
By the way, the formulation does not provide for any additional food additives, due to which the shelf life is extended and the saturated color of the product is preserved. The role of the preservative in this case belongs to natural sugar, the total content of which in the final product should be approximately 65 percent. The calorie content of dried cranberries is about 308 kcal per hundred grams of berries.
Dried cranberries have an attractive appearance, they do not stick together at all. And due to its elastic non-laminated structure, processing, transportation and storage of this product is greatly simplified.
In addition, dried cranberries do not deteriorate for a long time, since benzoic acid is present in its composition, which is considered the most real natural preservative. Keep in mind, if you freeze fresh cranberries in the freezer and then defrost it, you need to eat it on the same day - the thawed berry quickly loses its healing abilities.
The gastronomic properties of dried cranberries are unusually high. This berry is especially popular in this form in the West, in particular among Americans - it is called Kreizins there. Dried cranberries are usually consumed as an independent meal, as well as added to pastries and salads, thereby saturating them with vitamins. True, it is not so widespread in our country - residents of Russia prefer cranberries in sugar more.
