Canned meat is a well-known product for the vast majority of our latitudes. Back in Soviet times, canned meat began to be in constant demand and popular with hostesses. For a single decade, a variety of canned meat was used in the Soviet culinary tradition. For production of canned meat one uses meat of domestic animals and poultry, and also by-products and animal fats.

According to the definition given in the food industry, canned meat means food that is made from various types of meat. It is worth noting that the main and characteristic feature of canned meat can be considered the ability of the product for a fairly long time to maintain its taste, as well as nutritional and other consumer characteristics.

Thanks to such distinctive properties of canned meat, the product is actively used to content the military, as well as sailors. Canned meat compares favorably with other food products made from pet meat and poultry with a shelf life, high nutritional content, and in addition, ease of transportation.

Types of canned meat

Among the main types of canned meat, the following can be distinguished:



lunchtime canned meat;

canned meat used in baby food;

canned meat eateries;

canned meat for dietary nutrition.



The above-mentioned types of canned meat differ by the composition of the initial ingredients used in the product manufacturing process, as well as by the production technology. In addition, canned meat is differentiated depending on the raw materials that were used in the food production process.

The following types of canned meat are distinguished in the food industry:



canned meat better known in the people under the name stew, i. e. a food product containing boiled or cooked meat, as well as spices;

canned food made from meat products, usually of various types of minced meat or speck;

canned meat from offal, which usually includes the liver, heart or kidneys of pets, as well as tomato sauce;

canned poultry meat; oil and vegetable canned food is produced from all types of meat with the obligatory addition of vegetable fats, as well as minced meat to the product;

saloba canned food is produced without meat only on the basis of animal fats and legumes such as beans, soybeans or peas.



Canned meat can be considered a versatile food that is perfect for making first and main courses, as well as snacks and homemade pastries. It is worth noting that canned meat is usually ready-to-eat food. For this reason, canned meat is added 5 minutes before the cooking product is ready. For the first time, canned meat began to be made in France in the 19th century.
