Frog legs

Frog legs...

Agree, the cooked frog legs are exactly the very dish that for many of us is associated with French cuisine. However, in addition to France, they are very popular in other countries, in particular Italy, Portugal, Spain, the Caribbean, in the northwestern part of Greece, as well as in some regions of the American continent. Industrial production of frog feet is mainly concentrated in Vietnam - it is from there that they are exported to almost all world countries.

First of all, if you decide to get to know this product better, it should be borne in mind that not all representatives of the frog family are considered edible. Individuals whose purpose is culinary use are pre-fattened and grown in proper conditions, as it is necessary that their legs become thick and fleshy enough.

Only the hind frog legs are eaten, and even then their upper part. These legs have one bone that resembles the one present in chicken wings. Notably, the legs make up only about 20 percent of the frog's body weight, and the remaining 80 percent of the carcass is not used for food. Immediately before the preparation process, the frog legs must be thoroughly washed and dried, after which the lower part must be cut off. The structure and texture of the legs of frogs are very similar to chicken wings, and they are similar in taste.

In addition, even methods of making frog feet have much in common with chicken cooking options. For example, the French prefer their frying in batter or deep-fried. Ready-made legs are served along with aromatic savoury and spicy sauces, which are made from a variety of spices and fragrant herbs. For frying, it is advised to use high-quality olive oil, to which you can add a little garlic. For breading, shredded crumbs with aromatic spices are ideal, and for batter, liquid wheat dough.

Lovers of more delicate and juicy dishes often braise frog legs in a soft cream-based sauce. Before cooking, quite often the legs are soaked in lemon juice, milk, wine or other marinades. Frog legs and Asian cuisine are very popular, where they like to be consumed stewed or fried, thoroughly seasoning the finished dish with spices.

Due to the fact that frogs live only in clean water bodies, their meat is considered to be completely safe for human health from an environmental point of view. In addition, according to numerous studies by scientists, the useful substances produced in the body of frogs act as an excellent preventive agent against cancer.
