Fritters

Fritters...

Fritters are considered not only a popular dish of Russian cuisine, which is usually served in huge quantities on Maslenitsa, but also food, which has spread throughout the world. Essentially, the fritters are pan-fried, two-sided batter-based tortillas. It is recommended to fry fritters over a medium heat, and serve with sour cream ready.

The tradition of preparing classical pancakes dates back more than a century, but over time, a variety of products began to appear that made these lush tortillas: sour cream began to be replaced with jam, jam, condensed milk or honey. Gradually, hostesses not alien to newfangled trends and culinary delights began to add apples, dried fruits to the dough or saw, which, frankly, did not spoil the dish at all, but, on the contrary, introduced new flavors to the fritters.

By the way, today fritters can be found in many restaurants around the world, and in each country the recipe for their preparation has a national flavor: Americans enjoy pancakes (as they are called there) with maple syrup, the inhabitants of England give up with apple, while the Norwegians usually eat them with blueberry or blackberry jam. On average, the calorie content of pancakes is about 20

Types of fritters

In general, today there is a pre-huge number of types of fritters - this depends on the variations of the culinary process and the initial ingredients. Sometimes it even seems that modern fritters remotely resemble their Russian "progenitors, " having lost their historical connection with the people who invented and associated them with their pagan gods and religious customs.

Modern cook books offer many recipes for preparing this dish. In addition to the classic types of pancakes, you can find potato, corn, courgette, liver, bean, cabbage, semolina, pea and even chicken tortillas.

Composition of the fritters

The main components in the composition of fritters prepared according to the classical recipe are eggs, wheat flour, baking powder (baking soda) and liquid base (milk, fermented milk product or water). For example, eggs contain a lot of protein, as well as essential amino acids, vitamins and trace elements that have a beneficial effect on the body. Fermented milk products also have many valuable nutrients: mineral compounds and proteins.

The situation is much worse with flour - high-grade wheat products supply a person with only carbohydrates, which give only a huge amount of calories, while there are too few trace elements and vitamins in it. That is why when kneading the dough, it is recommended to include rye flour with the addition of oatmeal in the fritters - thus more fiber will enter the body.
