Grissini

Grissini...

Relatively recently, a new bakery variety for our consumer appeared on the domestic market, which immediately deserved special attention. It is called grissini or breadsticks and is a traditional Italian product. And it is not at all by chance that grissini quickly gained popularity among our people, because they are really tasty and healthy.

In general, there is an opinion that grissini first appeared in the vicinity of Turin in the 17th century. It is said that these breadsticks were deliberately invented by the famous baker Antonio Brunero for the Duke Amadeus of Savoy, who needed "light food" due to problems with the digestive system.

And today, these long and thin crispy sticks are a classic Italian snack, which, depending on the composition of the product, can be eaten with cheese, salads, ham, or served with soups and pasta, coffee and tea. In addition, grissini is often used as an independent dish. By the way, these breadsticks can be found in almost any Italian restaurant, pizzeria or cafe.

There are many recipes for making grissini. Thus, these bread sticks can be cylindrical, rectangular, twisted or rounded, while having different sizes, different formulation, as well as a wide variety of decor. Grissini is baked in olive or butter, in milk or water, sometimes eggs are added to the dough. There are even recipes for making grissini with malt.

Salt, cumin, sesame, poppy and other products can be used as sprinkling for grissini. Sticks are often covered with various glazes, including chocolate ones. Such a tasty snack is good because you can easily please both vegetarians and people who prefer meat and sausages by just adding or removing some components.

Today, the popularity of the grissini extends far beyond their culinary homeland - Italy. These crispy sticks conquered not only Europeans, but also the population of many other countries, including the most exotic. For example, residents of Thailand often prefer sweet glazed grissini chocolate to their traditional treats.

It is worth noting that versatility, unusual shape, aroma and excellent taste are not the only advantages of grissini. So, Italian bread sticks with natural vegetables are a dietary product that is enriched with proteins, vitamins, mineral salts, valuable fatty acids and, undoubtedly, healthy fiber. Such grissini can serve as a worthy substitute for regular bread - they can be taken with you to work, on a trip, on a picnic or give children to school.
