Irga jam

Irga jam...

As you know, the fruiting period of the irga shrub falls on July - early August, so it was then that it was time to start preparing homemade preparations from mature fruits. Many hostesses who independently grow this plant on their own garden plots claim that all dishes from this berry are always extremely fragrant and at the same time differ in their original taste.

The most common ways to make irga are homemade blends - compotes, juices, jams, povidla, jelly and jam. Recipes for non-standard dishes and drinks based on this berry are also known - for example, kvass. Being a rather delicate berry with unusual taste, the irga allows you to make the jam from its fruits unusually tasty and healthy. At the same time, a distinctive feature of this plant is that it is considered one of the earliest berry crops that ripen in vegetable gardens.

It is worth saying that irga jam is characterized by a fairly simple recipe, which is somewhat reminiscent of a similar recipe for sweet strawberry food. To make homemade jam from irga, in addition to the berries themselves, sugar sand and some water are used. Mature berries are carefully moved, freed from peduncles and carefully washed so that the skin is not damaged.

The fruits prepared in this way are placed in hot sugar syrup and boiled either in one step until cooked or in several stages (short boiling and subsequent cooling). By the way, citric acid can be added to the syrup to taste, which not only adds additional acid to the finished irga jam, but also acts as a preservative.

It must be said that many culinary experts still advise not to cook irga jam according to a traditional recipe, which provides for the thermal treatment of berries at high temperatures, but simply grind fresh fruits with sugar. This version of the workpiece, although it is less profitable, since the raw product can ferment even when stored in the refrigerator, but still it is its nutritionists who recognize it as more useful.

The benefits of natural jam from irga for human health are undoubted, which is due to the content of a large amount of valuable substances in the composition of a sweet and sour product. So, for example, fresh berries are rich in vitamin C, as well as vitamin V

2. The useful properties of irga jam are also its ability to act as a preventive agent for diseases of the vascular system.
