Banana jam

Banana jam...

In the global culinary tradition, bananas deservedly became quite widespread. Basically, these sweet fruits are usually consumed fresh, but often bananas are the starting materials for the preparation of various confectionery and sweets.

So, in addition to the jam of their tropical fruit, one of the most uncomplicated ways to harvest fruits for future use can be called banana jam. At home, the preparation of this aromatic and very tasty treat involves the use of not only bananas themselves and granulated sugar, but also additional ingredients such as citrus fruits - in particular, lemons or oranges.

If citrus fruits are added to the banana jam composition, the flavor and taste properties of the finished product are significantly improved. At the very beginning of cooking, banana jam is recommended to get juice from citrus fruits, after which you need to peel mature bananas and cut the fruits into circles of medium thickness.

The prepared juice is poured into a dish, in which chopped slices of bananas with sugar are laid, after which the mixture is brought to a boil. As soon as the mixture boils, the temperature decreases and the preparation of banana jam continues until a thick, uniform consistency is obtained. Ready-made banana jam can be served as a stand-alone dessert or used as a filling when making a variety of homemade pastries, as well as a layer for cakes and cakes.

By using citrus juice, banana jam acquires not only additional citrus notes, but also will not lose its original color. The fact is that in the air the flesh of the banana begins to darken, and when placed in an acidic environment, which is the juice of lemon and orange, the yellow color of the fruits does not change.

Nevertheless, despite the excellent taste of banana jam, do not forget that this sweet product has a rather tasty calorie. First of all, fresh bananas themselves are very nutritious fruits, and the addition of granulated sugar in the preparation of jam also significantly increases the nutritional value of the finished product.

That is why banana jam is recommended to be consumed in limited quantities, especially for overweight people, since an excess of sugar in the diet contributes not only to the deposition of additional kilograms, the development of tooth decay, but also to the risk of a possible occurrence of a serious disease - diabetes mellitus. Remember that even the most delicious foods should be present on the daily menu in limited quantities.
