Pudding

Pudding...

Pudding refers to the original English national desserts. For centuries, there has been a Christmas tradition in the UK that a festive table cannot do without a special pudding. Moreover, each family has its own signature recipe for such a special dessert. Remarkably, the pudding dessert comes thanks to another British festive dish. English plum porridge or plum porridge was a must-have on Christmas Day.

Bread crumbs, honey, almond nuts and prunes were added to the porridge. Porridge was cooked on meat broth and served only scorchingly hot. Over time, porridge transformed into a modern dessert. There are vintage descriptions of how pudding should be served at the Christmas table. Dessert was placed in the center of the table, watered with alcohol, usually cognac and set on fire. Such a burning pudding was the culmination of a feast.

Pudding composition

According to the classic English recipe, the pudding includes the following ingredients: chicken eggs, cow's milk, as well as flour. Often, fruits or berries are present in the pudding, a dish is prepared in a water bath. Usually puddings are poured to cool into special shapes, which give the dessert a distinctive appearance and some zest.

However, not all puddings can be attributed to desserts. Sometimes the pudding includes completely unexpected ingredients. There are at least a few dozen types of puddings. Usually, the recipes of the dish vary in the composition of the ingredients that are used to make dessert.

Types of pudding

Among the most popular and common are the following types of pudding: curd, bread, rice, semolina, fruit or berry, chocolate, caramel, and so on. You can simply list it indefinitely. Specific types of puddings include: black pudding based on blood sausage or red meat pudding from fried pieces of meat and offal. White pudding is also made from meat, and Yorkshire with lamb fat.

The taste, aroma, as well as the calorie content of the pudding depend only on the composition of the dish. We think it's no secret that the calorie content of chocolate pudding will be significantly different from a dish based on berries or fruits. Nowadays, puddings are sold in most grocery stores, or you can easily buy a tasty dessert in a pastry shop.

However, the most delicious and healthy puddings are obtained at home. The variety of pudding recipes gives hostesses a great opportunity to choose a dessert for their taste and level of culinary skill.
