These mushrooms can be found in many countries of the northern hemisphere: from the far north to the subtropics, but most of all the gastronomic and useful properties of opat are appreciated in Russia and Eastern Europe.

Four species of opat stand out depending on the time of year: flight, autumn, winter and meadow. All of them are characterized by the presence of a "ring" in the upper part of the leg.

Operata live in whole groups, inhabiting tree trunks and stumps. One of the main advantages of these fungi is that from year to year they appear in the same place, and at the same time. That is why mushroom pickers, without making much effort, find opat in the same places every year.

Currently, in some countries, avid mushroom pickers create special enterprises in which the cultivation of opat takes place on an industrial scale.

You can treat yourself and your guests with a variety of dishes made from these "kids, " as there are a lot of options: they can be boiled, marinated, fried, salted, and sometimes even dried.

Benefits of opat

Different types of these small fungi contain natural antibiotics and anti-cancer substances, which undoubtedly suggests the benefits of opat. Only 100 grams of the product is enough to cover a person's daily need for vitamins such as B1 and C.

The presence of rapidly digestible proteins, vitamins E, PP and B2, as well as sodium, potassium, iron and manganese indicate to us the significant benefits of opat for the human body. But this is not all: calcium and phosphorus in these mushrooms are no less than in fish!

Harm to opat

Autumn sprouts should be marinated exclusively in enameled dishes or in dishes made of stainless steel. It is very important not to forget that by eating these mushrooms in an undercooked form, you risk learning about the dangers of sawdust.

But despite the fact that we often hear only positive reviews when tasting dishes from these mushrooms, not everyone knows about the dangers of opat, like forest parasites. If there are beautiful living trees on your way, on the bark of which there are many sawdust, keep in mind that in a few years there will be dry trunks in their place.
