Apple lobo

Apple lobo...

Lobo's winter apple variety was bred in Canada based on Mackintosh apple seeds by free pollination. Experts attribute this variety to medium-winter-resistant, fast-growing and fruitful. It is noteworthy that Lobo apples are distinguished by their wide cultivation range due to their numerous advantages.

Thus, Lobo apple variety was widely used among amateur gardeners, as well as special scientific institutions in 1920, especially in the Baltic republics. It was zoned in the Lithuanian SSR, and then passed a production test in the Belarusian SSR. As a result, it was found that the degree of winter hardiness of trees during the harsh winter of 1979 was one and a half points.

At a young age, a tree with a widely rounded rather rare crown grows very strongly, after which its growth is weakened along with branching. Annual shoots of the Lobo plant are brown with a reddish coating. They differ in average size and are densely covered with large white lentils. At the same time, there is strong pubescence on the upper part of the shoot. Light green leaves of the Lobo apple tree of medium size, have a round-oblong short-pointed shape. Their leaf plate is medium pubescent, even, and their edges are urban.

Fruiting of the ringed type in a Lobo tree begins in the fourth or fifth year of life. You can remove the fruits starting from the second half of September. The shelf life of Lobo Apples is average - as a rule, fruits do not lose their consumer qualities until January of the month. It is worth noting that the average size, and sometimes rather large (130-160 grams) Lobo apples differ in flattened-conical shape. The fruits have a medium open calyx and a slightly ribbed saucer and a funnel of medium depth and width.

The smooth and shiny skin of Lobo's apples is greenish yellow, while it is completely covered with an attractive blurred blush of dark pink with a gray coating. Rare, slightly visible subcutaneous points are observed on the fruits. The white flesh of mature Lobo apples is very juicy and tender, dense in consistency. The fruit tastes sweet and sour with a pleasant aroma, which allows you to use Lobo apples both fresh and when preparing many dessert dishes.

Thus, it can be concluded that the clear advantages of the Lobo apple variety include excellent taste along with the attractive appearance of the fruit, as well as the winter resistance of the plant. Nevertheless, they also have their own drawbacks, including: short laying time, average yield and damage to fruits by fruit rot, scab, especially in the season of high humidity.
