Apples Glory to the winners belong to summer or late summer varieties and are the result of the selection of the Mlievskaya experimental gardening station named after L. P. Simirenko. As you know, they were obtained in 1928 from the hybridization of apple varieties Mackintosh and Papirovka (White Pour) by breeders Techmistrenko P. E. and Ro L. M.

It is noteworthy that for the central regions of our country this variety is characterized by an autumn ripening period. At the same time, it is zoned almost everywhere in the regions of industrial gardening of the former Union and Russia.

The tree of the variety Glory to the winners is quite strong-growing and has a broad-pyramidal crown, which with age acquires a highly rounded or high-oval appearance. The main branches, which differ in brown bark, are usually raised up and extend from the trunk at sharp angles, but over time they begin to be distributed to the sides, overgrown with fruit rods and rings.

The fruits of the Glory to the winners variety are characterized as large or medium. They are considered rather beautiful and have an oblong-rounded, rounded or slightly conical in the upper part even or with a barely noticeable rib shape. Large apples Glory to the winners grow in gardens with freezing, as well as providing the necessary humidity of the air and soil.

The skin of apples Glory to the winners is smooth. When removed, their main color is light green with a solid, bright red blush that completely covers the fruit. By the way, if the fruits are not removed prematurely, which happens quite often due to their rapid overripe, on the surface of the Glory apples, the winners can observe a light wax coating and numerous subcutaneous points of light shade, often with forged centers.

White flesh of apples Glory to the winners is distinguished by a light cream shade, it is very tender and juicy. The fruits are unusually fragrant and differ in a rich sour-sweet taste. In terms of chemical composition, such elements as sugars, titratable acids, P-active substances, as well as ascorbic acid in an amount of 8 mg per 100 grams of fruits are present in fruits.

In the Kuban, for example, apples of apples Glory to the winners ripen by the first half of August, and by the end of this month - to the north. The Oryol region is characterized by ripening of fruits in early September. The marketability of apples Glory to the winners is 80-90 percent, but when fully ripened, the fruits are able to be very poorly held on the tree.

In the field of selective breeding of fruit trees, the apple variety Glory to the winners is unusually valuable, since it is necessary to convey both the high commercial appearance of fruits and signs of their dessert taste. With their participation, many new varieties of apple trees were created in countries such as Ukraine, the North Caucasus and other regions of the former USSR.
