Another check for ripeness lies in another simple technique - just scrape the peel with your nail: if a green layer appears, then the melon is mature and can already be eaten. A good butternut melon should be solid, not sluggish, with juicy flesh. The very flesh of the nutmeg melon should in no case be fibrous or dry.

Despite the fact that the muscat melon contains not so many antioxidants compared to other fruits, its fruits still contain a sufficient amount of other useful vitamins and minerals.

For example, potassium in the composition of butternut melon helps to regulate the balance of fluid in the body. It is also necessary for nerve impulses to pass correctly, shorten muscles and work the heart. In addition, just one cup of fresh nutmeg melon pulp can provide the human body with approximately five percent of the daily intake of magnesium and copper.
