Sometimes the most ugly-looking tree, with patience and care, can give a rich harvest of fragrant pear fruits. It is customary to classify an ordinary pear into the Pink-colored family. To date, breeders have bred more than one hundred varieties of pear tree, or rather, there are approximately 5, 000 different modern pear species.

Each type of pear is characterized by its own special taste, aroma and even the shape of the fruits. Most of these fruits belong to dessert varieties, however, other types of pears are known. For example, the pear "dick, " in which the fruits differ in small size, hardness and sour taste, but at the same time they are quite suitable for making compotes and jam. In addition, in England and France, gardeners grow special varieties of pears, on the basis of which cider is then produced.

It is noteworthy that after the apple tree, the pear is considered the second most popular fruit tree in our latitudes. These fruits are used to make jams, jellies, and also harvest fruits for the winter by drying, and then use healthy dried fruits in different recipes. There are many desserts in which pickled pears play an important role. So, few people will refuse the amazing culinary masterpiece pickled pears in wine or cognac.

In cooking, the pear began to be used about thirty centuries ago. Historians have found confirmation that the pear was well known in ancient times. The image of this fruit is on the frescoes of the city of Pompeii, and the ancient Greek author Homer in his Odyssey surprisingly accurately described the garden in which pear trees grew.

It is worth noting that not every gardener manages to "catch" the right moment for pears - often the harvested fruits are unripe and hard, or vice versa, overripe. It is incomplete pears that are excellent for preservation, for example, pickling. Pickled pears always succeed in delicious and fragrant sweet treats. By the way, pickled pears can be served not only as a main dessert or an additive to a fruit salad. Pickled pears can be a great ingredient in custard or vanilla cream.

Pickled pears combine well with light snacks - for example, an excellent taste combination is obtained with pate or terrine. You can make an unusual light salad of fresh chicory leaves and pickled pears by dressing the dish with honey and mustard sauce. French foodies like the combination of pickled pears with cheeses, especially with noble blue mold.
