Langsat

Langsat...

Langsat is a very popular plant in countries such as Malaysia, the Philippines, Indonesia, as well as Thailand. It began to be cultivated in Malaysia, and therefore this country is considered the birthplace of Langsat. To date, this plant is purposefully grown all over the world, including in countries such as Taiwan, Australia, the United States, Mexico and other states. A considerable amount of langsat is exported to different world powers from Thailand.

In general, langsat is a fruiting tree with pinnate leaves and a spreading crown, the height of which can vary from ten to fifteen meters. The rough bark of the tree is red-brown or yellow-brown, and its dense snow-white or yellowish-tinged flowers, collected in clusters, are on skeletal (main) branches and trunk. Despite the fact that the first fruits appear on the tree only fifteen years later, the fruit harvest can be harvested twice a year.

Langsat fruits can be both oval and round in shape - they resemble the tubers of young potatoes a little and differ in the skin of a pale brown or grayish yellow color. Most often, langsat fruits are preserved or boiled, although they can be consumed raw. By the way, ripe langsat fruits are an indispensable ingredient in many dishes of Asian cuisine. They have a rather specific, but no less pleasant taste, so fruits are an excellent addition to many dishes.

Langsat fruits are easily cleaned (they open even with their hands), even despite the rather dense skin. On sale, langsat is found in the form of clusters, like grape. In order to buy ripe, good and tasty fruits, you need to try them to the touch: if the fruits are hard and have a yellowish skin, then they are ripe.

In addition, the quality of langsat fruits is also indicated by their taste, which can be both sweet and with a small acid, but not mustard. Due to the high sugar content, mature langsat fruits do not last long - in the refrigerator, for example, they do not deteriorate during the week.

It is worth noting that the fruits of langsat also have therapeutic properties, which are due to the content of vitamins and bioacids, which are unusually useful for human skin. In addition, they contain carbohydrates, calcium, phosphorus and iron. In Chinese and Thai folk medicine, it is believed that the use of langsat fruits helps to raise life tone and gain strength during ailments. And the decoction of langsat bark treats dysentery and malaria.
