Chinese pear (nashi)

Chinese pear (nashi)...

Quite recently, a variety of pears with the funny name "neshi, " originally from China, was exotic to us, but today this fruit can be seen quite often on the shelves of grocery stores. Chinese pear (neshi) has excellent taste and external qualities, and also has a number of properties useful for the human body.

Interestingly, the Chinese pear (neshi) has several more names, among which Japanese, Asian, Taiwanese and sand pears are most often used. For the first time, this fruit appeared in China, but today Chinese pear (nash) is successfully cultivated in some other countries of the world - for example, in Israel, Japan and Korea.

Chinese pear (Neshi) is a hybrid, that is, the result of selection (crossing). So, Yamanashi's pear acted as the progenitor of this fruit, but it was distinguished by increased hardness and sour taste. That is why it was practically not used for food. Thanks to scientists-breeders from China, this problem was successfully eliminated - all the shortcomings turned into advantages and a Chinese pear (neshi) was born.

The shape of a Chinese pear (neshi) resembles the average between an apple and a pear of European varieties. Mature fruits have an average size, with a weight of about two hundred to three hundred grams. The peel of a Chinese pear, as if strewn with "camouflage" spots, is distinguished by a light yellow color, sometimes greenish. Under the peel is an unusually tender and very pleasant to taste juicy flesh, which, at the same time, is quite dense.

A distinctive feature of the Chinese pear (Nesha) is that its taste harmoniously combines a sweet taste with a thin savory acid. Thanks to such taste features, it is often used in the preparation of a variety of fruit (and not only) salads and other dessert dishes. The calorie content of the Chinese pear (neshi) is 42 kcal, which are contained in 100 grams of fresh fruits.

Benefits of Chinese pear (neshi)

The benefits of Chinese pear (neshi) are due to its dietary properties. In addition, it is rich in substances necessary for human health - in particular, vitamins of group B, ascorbic acid, E, PP and K. Also in fruits there are such valuable elements as calcium, magnesium, potassium, iron, phosphorus, zinc and selenium.

However, whatever the benefits of a Chinese pear (nesha), when purchasing it, you always need to pay attention to the delivery time of the product, since these fruits differ in a relatively short shelf life. So, quite often a week after harvesting, the fruits begin to rot, and in the refrigerator they do not deteriorate for about two weeks.
