Fig peach

Fig peach...

Fig peach is a real treat for juicy fruit lovers. But this interesting fruit, which has become so popular today, causes a lot of controversy over its origin. Many mistakenly claim that fig peach is a special hybrid, which is a mixture of fig and peach (hence the name). This is fundamentally wrong, since in fact these two fragrant fruits have an exceptionally similar form and nothing else in common.

First of all, fig peach is a plant from the pink subgenus almond family, so we can say that it is quite close to the almond tree, however, the difference is in the fruits. In mass sale, this fruit appeared in Russia, Crimea and Ukraine relatively recently, but immediately aroused strong interest and universal love.

Fig peach can be safely called cultigenic species - it is not possible to find it in the wild. The birthplace of this juicy fruit is China, where the wild ancestors of this peach are found - they were directly involved in the origin of both this species and peaches in general.

Fig peach differs from the more familiar fruit for our person in its flattened shape, really miniature bone and less than a shorter cannon on the skin. Regarding taste and aroma, we can safely declare that these characteristics are in no way inferior to the qualities of its larger circular brother. Unless the same juicy, sweet and fragrant flesh of fig peach is distinguished by its color - in flat fruits it is white.

The undoubted advantage of fig peaches is that when eating fruits, the rich taste, which in ordinary fruit is pronounced under the skin, and when eaten closer to the bone becomes not so obvious, remains invariably sweet.

In Europe, fig peach is also called the Saturn peach or doughnut peach. The fact is that this fruit has a small bone easily removed, and at the same time a hole remains in the middle of the fruit. Here really is a doughnut!

Another advantage of fig peach over its larger brother can be called the fact that transporting such products is much more profitable than round fruits. In general, it is clear that selection does not stand still, so the world will probably soon learn not only about flat peaches and square watermelons, but also probably many other equally interesting experiments that bring people both extraordinary taste and aesthetic emotions.
