This species of deciduous trees is a bright representative of the plum genus, which can sometimes reach a height of up to seventeen meters. But, remarkably, long before the first leaflets appear on the tree, numerous flowers of white and pink bloom. Moreover, the flowering is so abundant that all branches of the tree are simply shrouded in a fluffy cloud of flowers that emit a delicate aroma.

China is the native land of the germ, but currently these fruits are actively cultivated in Turkey, Afghanistan, Iran, Transcaucasia, as well as countries of Southwest Asia, Southern Europe and North Africa. In our country, cultural varieties also grow, which are concentrated mainly in the southern regions. However, this does not prevent amateur gardeners from growing a well in gardens near Moscow.

A distinctive feature of round herring fruits can be called a not so pronounced sweet taste compared to cultural varieties of apricots. Meanwhile, they also have the appearance of a yellowish-red drupe. Inside the fruit there is a thick-walled smooth bone. The kernels taste quite bitter, so they are not recommended to be eaten in order to avoid poisoning. By the way, breeders get a variety of hybrids from varietal apricots and germs, which have quite high gastronomic qualities.

You can use the fruits of the germ as well as apricot. Basically, they make delicious filling for all kinds of flour dishes (pastries), make jam from wild apricot, see and compotes, prepare aromatic liquors and juices. By the way, the juice of this fruit is fermented without the use of sugar, and the finished braga is distilled and the result is excellent vodka. In addition, the well can be dried.

It has been proven that fresh germ fruits help to cope with overheating, in connection with which they are recommended to be consumed in the summer heat. In addition, these fruits contain carotene, which has the ability to protect the skin from the harmful effects of ultraviolet rays, so they can be used externally for sunburn. This will eliminate the redness of the skin and burning feeling. And if a person has to work for a long time in front of a computer monitor, then the feeling of fatigue also quickly resolves when eating the fruit of the germ.

Traditional medicine claims the benefits of wild apricot juice as an excellent diuretic, which is also able to regulate intestinal function and normalize stomach acidity. It is advised to use this drink with dysbiosis and colitis.
