7up
Lemonade lovers are surely aware of the lime and lemon flavored fizzy drink, which is caffeine-free and comes under the brand name 7UP. In the United States, the distribution rights of this brand are retained by Dr Pepper Snapple Group, while outside the country - PepsiCo. Interestingly, the logo of this cool drink is a drop of red, which is located between 7 and UP. To date, this droplet has been animated and is used as the brand's mascot.
The history of the 7UP dates back to 1920, when it was invented by Charles Laper Grigg. It was he who proposed adding to this drink one of the medicines that are currently being prescribed for the treatment of manic-depressive psychosis - lithium citrate. In addition, this substance helped to relieve severe hangover syndrome.
During the Great Depression, 7 UP immediately began to enjoy increased demand and popularity - it was then also called lithium-lemon soda. Soon the name was changed, but lithium was included in the drink until the 50s of the 20th century, and officially 7UP referred to patented medicines.
In general, there are a wide variety of versions of the origin of the name of this carbonated drink. Someone claims that the original recipe included 7 components, others mention an atomic mass of lithium equal to seven. However, in fact, 7UP got its name from cans, the capacity of which was 7 ounces - it was in them that the world famous 7UP to date was originally produced and sold.
In addition to the classic drink, which has a lemon-lime taste, modern industry, represented by officially recognized companies, has begun to produce other options, significantly diversifying a number of existing drinks called 7UP. So, for adherents of calorie counting, a dietary 7UP, which was released back in 1970, was an excellent option.
In addition, natural (and not only) flavors began to be used for a variety of taste sensations - this is how cherry and orange 7UP appeared. In the composition of these drinks, along with all kinds of artificial additives, you can find natural apple juice. The climax of the innovations was a drink called 7UP with Mint, the creation of which the company announced in July 201
