Cherry liqueur
Cherry liqueur is an alcoholic drink that is infused with cherry fruits and leaves, as well as grape brandy with some sugar. On average, the strength of the finished drink can vary from 25 to 30 degrees.
According to some sources, cherry liquor first appeared in the English city of Kent with the light hand of Thomas Grant. Then cherry liquor was made on the basis of the black cherry morel variety. However, almost all varieties of this drupe are currently used for this purpose.
In addition to England, cherry liquor is produced in Germany, Switzerland and France. The most famous and popular brands of cherry liqueur around the world are Peter Heering Cherry Liqueur, Bols, de Kuyper, Garnier and Cherry Rocher.
In general, completely ripened cherry berries are used to make cherry liqueur, and together with bone. It is noteworthy that when infused, the kernel of the bone gives the drink a bitter taste along with the aroma of almond nuts. Drinking cherry liquor is accepted as a digestif as an accompaniment to dessert dishes. In addition, cherry liquor often acts as a fragrant addition to a variety of cocktails. Confectioners use cherry liqueur to make all sorts of sweet dishes.
In industrial production, to make cherry liqueur, squeezed cherry juice with seeds is combined with sugar syrup and pure brandy, and then infused for about a month until full aromatization. It is worth noting that the saturated bright red color of high-quality grape liquor is obtained not due to the use of food dyes, but thanks to vegetable coloring substances.
Due to the simple manufacturing technology, cherry liqueur is made at home. Basically, cherry berries insist on alcohol-containing raw materials (ethyl alcohol, high-quality vodka, cognac, whiskey or brandy), after which the prepared tincture is combined in certain proportions with pre-prepared sugar syrup.
Thanks to the content of cherries, this liquor has similar beneficial and even therapeutic properties, if used in moderation. For example, the natural red dye cherry (anthocyanin) is characterized by an antioxidant effect, therefore, the use of natural cherry liqueur contributes to the strengthening of vessels and capillaries, stimulates hematopoietic activity, and also reduces pressure and rejuvenates cells.
In addition, it has been proven that cherry liquor can increase immunity - for this it is recommended to add it to tea. Cherry liqueur, added to tea from strangles and scaffold, helps with mental disorders, epilepsy and stress, and with tracheitis and bronchitis, it acts as a means to soften coughing and help sputum escape.
