Muscat wine (muscat)
Muscat wine is one of the top spots on the list of the most common and popular drinks worldwide. Nutmeg wines are a whole layer in the modern wine-making tradition. Muscat wine is made from the same grape variety. Moreover, it is worth noting that muscat wine can be produced from both white, pink, and red or black muscat grapes. Therefore, do not be surprised if a specialized wine store offers you various varieties of nutmeg wines. In addition, some Muscata wines are produced from a mixture of several grape varieties.
It is believed that such a drink will favorably differ from others in its unique taste and amazing aroma. Muscat or Muscat wine gets its original name from the Latin name musk or muscus. Professional tasters and sommeliers claim that all nutmeg wines are distinguished by their sharp or strong smell, which is somewhat reminiscent of musk. In turn, musk is understood as a substance that is actively used in the perfume industry and is obtained from plant and animal material.
All subspecies of grapes belonging to the group of nutmeg varieties of the plant will be distinguished by their Japanese spiced musk taste. This is due, first of all, to the chemical composition of the fruits of Muscat grapes, which contain a fairly large amount of essential oils. The essential oils contained in the chemical composition of the grapes determine the taste as well as the aroma of the finished Muscat wine. In accordance with the adopted regulatory documents, as well as according to GOST, the content of alcohol in muscat wines should not exceed 16%, and sugar - 30% of the total volume of the drink.
The most common grape varieties used for the manufacture of nutmeg wines are pink, black, purple, as well as Hungarian Muscat. France is considered the world leader in growing nutmeg grapes, and in addition, Muscat wine making. This is not surprising, especially considering the centuries-old wine-growing tradition that has formed in some regions of France, for example, in Bordeaux or Burgundy. However, not only the French are famous for their muscat wines. Muscat wines from Spain, as well as from other European countries, have recently performed well.
It is also noteworthy that Muscat wine, made from muscat grape varieties grown in Crimea, is popular. We think that many residents of our latitudes and admirers of Muscat wine are familiar not by hearsay with the products of the Crimean winery called "Massandra. " This is one of the oldest wineries, which was built at the end of the 18th century thanks to Prince L. S. Golitsyn. It is on the territory of Massandra in Crimea that the oldest basements in the entire post-Soviet territory are located for many years of aging wine.
