Walnut liqueur

Walnut liqueur...

The nutty fragrance liqueur deserves to be told in detail as it is quite a large and interesting group of alcoholic beverages. As a rule, this refers to liqueurs that are flavored with forest, walnut and almond nuts.

Notably, in France, the first 2 flavors are represented by varieties of walnut liqueur such as geme de noix and noisette. Regarding almonds, we can say that this is a little more complicated - some fruit seeds, for example, apricot and cherry, also have an almond taste. Nut liqueur, which contains almonds, is called geme d'amandes, but there is also a similar drink, which is called geme de noyau.

All these types of nut liqueur are based on brandy: crushed peeled nuts insist on pure grape alcohol, after which the drink is strained and bottled. The obvious color of the nut livery is practically absent - one might say, it is distinguished by a straw hue characteristic of white wine. An exception is geme de noyau, which has a richer color scheme if the nut liqueur is made from cherry seeds.

In Italy, a number of nut liqueurs are also produced, including Disaronno Amaretto with a pronounced almond aroma, as well as Nocino, a walnut-based nut liqueur. By the way, in the 1980s, the world famous nut liqueur Frangelico was released - a fine straw-tinged drink that is flavored with herbs and hazelnut. It comes in a rather unusual bottle, which in silhouette resembles the figure of a monk. Another popular type of walnut liqueur that is in demand and popular around the world is Amaretto almond liqueur - the pride of Italy.

Nut liqueur is not only a rather tasty and fragrant alcoholic drink, which is usually consumed on its own, but also the basis for making all kinds of cocktails. For example, lovers of mixed drinks with a taste of nuts clearly tasted cocktails called Pink Almonds and Crazy Monk. If you still prefer to drink nut liqueur as a digestif, serve it with pounded food ice. As an aperitif, this beverage is served in a chilled form diluted with water in approximately equal proportions.

Nut liqueur is unusually good when combined with nut desserts, as well as in chocolate mousse or simply as an accompaniment to confectionery, such as fruit cake. By the way, chilled Frangelico nut liqueur is an indispensable companion to aged stilton cheese.
