Mead
Honey is an incredibly useful natural product that contains a colossal amount of not only essential vitamins and minerals for the human body, as well as biologically active macro- and microelements. Since ancient times, people have appreciated the useful qualities of honey. Our ancestors believed that honey is the food of the gods, which brings longevity, health to a person, grants wisdom and reveals the ability to sorcery and magic.
Honey was used not only in its pure form or as a medicinal sweet treat, on its basis a number of useful products were produced, including drinks. The old Russian folk drink of mead is known to many, and until our time it enjoys well-deserved popularity. Mead is an unusual alcoholic drink, the strength of which does not exceed 16%.
Since ancient times, people have known and actively used the beneficial properties of mead. Ancient mead recipes involve the use of honey as the basis of the drink. Nowadays, mead is increasingly made using a large amount of sugar, which contradicts the recipe of the drink and significantly reduces the unique healing properties of mead.
The benefits of mead
The main benefit of mead is the composition of an alcoholic drink, since it has long been made in the following way. Bee honey was diluted with pure water and hops as well as spices were added to the mixture. Often, the drink included forest berries, which strengthened the beneficial properties of mead several times. Modern mead cannot boast of half the useful qualities, because the drink is based on sugar, not honey.
Doctors admit that the benefits of homemade mead for the human body are unique. This low-alcohol drink can help with high temperatures and colds. Mead relieves heat and has a general strengthening effect on the body. The drink not only warms, but also fights harmful bacteria. The antiphermal properties of mead are also known. Non-alcoholic mead is often prescribed to women during pregnancy, since the drink has strengthening and immunity-enhancing properties.
